We’ve all heard the saying, “When you’re up your up, but when you’re down your down.” We all face unexpected things in life, and what we do at these particular times can greatly affect our outcome. We can learn much from Paul and Silas’s midnight experience in a jail cell. They were in prison for the cause of Christ. Instead of complaining and blaming God for the situation they were in, they found it within themselves to praise God. Acts 16:25 …and at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. Like Paul and Silas in prison, if we can learn to rejoice and sing in our difficult times, just imagine what it will be like when the real victory comes. Not only did their singing and praises to God get the attention of other prisoners, they got God’s attention. God was hearing and seeing them right in the middle of their situation. Though their situation seemed desperate, when God moved things changed quickly. “Suddenly” to be exact. Acts 16:26 And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed. When faced with a bad situation we can blame God, complain, give up or start thanking God for the next great thing He is about to do in our life.
