Big Tech Censorship: The Conservative Purge

By Max Roemer

Jack Dorsey of Twitter and Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook have told Americans that they can no longer hear from their President. Both Twitter and Facebook have banned President Trump indefinitely. This reporter alone has lost over 5,000 conservative Twitter followers within 48 hours following the conservative purge and gross violation of our First Amendment rights. I have never railed about election fraud or incited violence, yet I was punished for my Right leaning viewpoints.

The First Amendment states, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” It is self-evident that Big Tech has no regard whatsoever for your First Amendment rights. It is being said that these are private companies and that they can do as they please. They are, also, protected under Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act. A law that Trump tried to do away with as its unlimited powers for Big Tech companies need revision and that their users are protected.

Millions of conservatives have deleted their accounts and have left Twitter and Facebook since the indefinite suspensions of President Trump. Twitter’s stock is down over 12% at the time of this printing. Most have migrated to Parler, known for its promises of free speech, and Big Tech has responded by removing Parler from the Google Play store claiming an “ongoing and urgent public safety threat,” and the Apple App store claiming Parler is not doing enough to squash, “threats of violence and illegal activity.” Amazon hosts Parler web services and has removed Parler from the internet on midnight Sunday night. Leaving Parler effectively completely unavailable and unusable.

We get it: The Left feels empowered. They have elected a Democrat president who will enjoy for at least two years a Democrat majority in the House and Senate. At the same time, President Trump will soon leave office a defeated man, subject of endless recriminations by Democrats and non-stop condemnation from the liberal media. Trump is threatened with impeachment once again by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., whose appetite for partisan nastiness appears insatiable.

Big Tech is empowered too, having played an important role in the election of Joe Biden. The social media giants lean left politically; their campaign donations to Biden and suppression of negative articles about him and his son Hunter Biden were all in service to electing their favored candidate.

Republicans must find a way to bring Twitter, Facebook and other social media giants to heel. Given the relentless and increasingly dishonest bias of the liberal media, the availability of social media platforms is one of the few avenues left to push back against the Left’s indoctrination of the nation.
