One of the most anticipated traditions of the annual Texas Rice Festival returned Friday, October 2nd, as The Arboretum of Winnie hosted its Old Timers’ Breakfast at the Winnie Community Building. This year’s “Sea to Shining Sea” theme added a patriotic touch to the morning celebration.

The annual event has been a tradition for more than 20 years, giving The Arboretum an opportunity to welcome the community while kicking off the Texas Rice Festival weekend.

Administrator Kayla Kiker stressed that the breakfast is truly a team effort at The Arboretum.

“Our kitchen staff works tirelessly to provide a delicious, healthy breakfast for several hundred people. And our regular staff ensures that the residents of The Arboretum who can attend are fed and tended to properly,” Kiker said.

She added, “We are privileged to serve our community and always look forward to seeing everyone at our annual Old Timers’ Breakfast!”

The Arboretum’s kitchen and regular staff worked together throughout the morning to prepare, serve and accommodate both the community guests and Arboretum residents who attended.

With its patriotic “Sea to Shining Sea” theme, delicious food and welcoming atmosphere, the Old Timers’ Breakfast once again provided a memorable beginning to the Texas Rice Festival festivities.
