Liberty, TX — July 9, 2024— CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Liberty and Chambers Counties is pleased to announce a generous donation of $1,000 from the Liberty Lions Club. This special contribution will support CASA’s mission: safeguarding the welfare of children in the foster care system.
CASA of Liberty and Chambers Counties operates under an agreement with the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) and the 2nd Region Child Protection Court. Through pre-service training and ongoing support, CASA prepares citizen-volunteers to serve as sworn officers of the court. These ‘advocates’ are responsible for ensuring each child’s needs are met throughout the legal process. Their role is not just advisory but transformative, as they provide judges with critical information and make best interest recommendations on decisions affecting the lives of children in foster care.
“This month marks the 15th anniversary of local service for our program,” said Kimberly Stephens, Executive Director of CASA of Liberty and Chambers Counties. “CASA advocates’ dedication and intervention have made a profound difference in the lives of countless children and families, ensuring that they receive the support and resources needed to thrive. With this donation from the Lions Club, our program will continue to serve all children who have been removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect.” CASA of Liberty & Chambers Counties currently serves 100% of families with open conservatorship cases in both Liberty and Chambers County courts.
The funds from the Liberty Lions Club will be utilized to further CASA’s programs, including:
The Lions Club’s donation is evidence of their commitment to making a positive impact in the community, by helping vulnerable children in foster care find stability and safety.
