If you do a little doom scrolling on social media, listen to the news, or simply pay attention to what people are talking about, it won’t take long to realize that a little hope would go a long way. The list of things people are dealing with is long and tiresome. From the economy to the rapid rise of AI, from wars around the world to health concerns, pesticides, fake meat, and everything in between, there seems to be no shortage of reasons to worry. Add everyday stress and personal struggles, and life can begin to feel overwhelming.
That is where we, as followers of Christ, have the opportunity to shine the brightest. We have hope, and the world desperately needs it. Peter reminds us to “always be ready to give a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you” (1 Peter 3:15).
So, what is that hope? We have the promise of eternal life (John 3:16), the presence of the Holy Spirit to guide us (John 16:13), a firm foundation that cannot be shaken (Matthew 7:24-25), a refuge in times of trouble (Psalm 46:1), and a purpose that is greater than ourselves (Ephesians 2:10). Best of all, the Creator of the universe knows us, loves us, and cares for us (Romans 8:38-39).
This week, be intentional. Look for the person who seems discouraged, overwhelmed, or afraid. Offer a kind word, lend a helping hand, and don’t be ashamed to point them to Jesus. The hope you share today may be the very thing God uses to change someone’s eternity.
