The Anahuac Panthers continued their winning streak Friday night, October 9th, with a thrilling 41-40 road victory over the Buna Cougars in a district showdown. The Panthers held on for the one-point win, improving to 4-3 overall and 3-0 in district play to remain in second place in the standings.

Anahuac entered the contest riding a two-game winning streak and left Buna with its third consecutive victory after an offensive battle that featured 81 combined points.

The Panthers finished with 394 yards of total offense, including 238 rushing yards and 156 passing yards. Anahuac relied on a balanced attack, recording 43 rushing attempts while completing 10 of 18 passes for 156 yards and three touchdowns through the air.

#0 RB Jaytwan Dowdye led the Panthers on the ground, carrying the ball 25 times for 136 yards and a touchdown. # 4 RB Darius Richardson also delivered a strong performance, finishing with 85 yards on 13 carries. Richardson’s longest run covered 25 yards, providing another spark to the Panthers’ rushing attack. #3 RB Treyson Richardson added 14 yards on his lone rushing attempt.

Through the air, #7 QB Braydon Sutch completed 10 of 18 passes for 156 yards and threw three touchdown passes. His performance helped Anahuac capitalize on its opportunities and keep pace in a closely contested game.

#2 WR Darion Williams led the receiving corps with six catches for 99 yards and two touchdowns. Williams averaged 16.5 yards per reception and had a long catch of 56 yards. #5 TE Brad Coates contributed two receptions for 22 yards and a touchdown, while #1 WR Caden Arvie added a 28-yard reception.

Anahuac’s three passing touchdowns, combined with two rushing scores, accounted for five of the Panthers’ seven touchdowns. The offense totaled 15.6 yards per reception, demonstrating its ability to generate significant gains through the passing game while maintaining a productive ground attack.

The one-point margin underscored the importance of every possession as the Panthers battled to protect their district record. Anahuac’s ability to produce nearly 400 yards of offense helped the Panthers secure the victory and extend their momentum as the district schedule continues.

With the win, the Panthers remain undefeated in district play at 3-0 and improve to 4-3 overall. Their next challenge will be a rivalry matchup against the East Chambers Buccaneers on

Thursday, October 15th. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00pm as Anahuac looks to carry its winning streak into another important district contest.
