Chambers County is a solid red county, meaning that over 83% of its registered voters vote for Republican candidates. Every countywide elected official is a Republican and runs unopposed for office. The Democrat party does not have an organized Democrat party in Chambers County and has not for decades.
The Chambers County GOP (CC GOP) held its first organizational meeting last Thursday evening. It is required to do so within 20 days after the primary election.
First order of business was to swear in the newly elected chairman and precinct chairmen. County Judge-elect and currently Pct 4 Commissioner Ryan Dagley did the honors of the swearing-in.
The CC GOP leadership which makes up the CC GOP executive committee are Donnie Self – chairman, Eric Smith – vice chairman, Rachal Hisler – secretary, John Feist – treasurer, and Eric Smith – parliamentarian. The precinct chairs are – Susan LeBlanc – Pct 1, Wallisville;
Wendy Copeland – Pct 2, Hankamer; Loretta Emmons – Pct 3, Smith Point/Double Bayou; Steve Villemez – Pct 4, Mont Belvieu; Tabitha Manuel – Pct 5, Beach City; Jeffrey Jenkins – Pct 7, Winnie; Jeff Storm – Pct 8, Cove; George Hisler – Pct 9, Oak Island; Dottie Macejewski – Pct 10, Old River; Nicholas Rice – Pct 11, Cedar Bayou; Bobby Way – Pct 12, Stowell; Cameron Swart – Pct 14, Anahuac S Airport; Kelly Riggs – Pct 15, Kilgore; Shala Johnson – Pct 16; Dana Lane – Pct 17. Precincts 6, 18, and 19 are vacant.
All members of the executive committee swore under oath to support all Republican candidates and the platform of the Texas GOP.
Several amendments to the current bylaws were discussed and will be voted on at the next meeting. One change was very controversial. The amendment change required for all members of the executive committee to remain neutral and not endorse a specific candidate in a GOP primary. Since the members are voted on by all GOP members to represent all GOP members, many Republicans believe that the chairman and executive committee should assist all GOP candidates for office.
