This weekend, 41 young ladies from across Chambers County took the stage at Whites Park to compete in the 2025 Chambers County Youth Project Show (YPS) Queens Contest. Each year, this competition continues to grow, and we are continually impressed not only by the increasing number of participants but also by the outstanding caliber of young women who take part.
This year, we recognized both a winner and a runner-up in each category. The winners received a crown, a leather sash, and a belt buckle, with the senior Queen winner also receiving a $500 scholarship sponsored by Tri County Construction Company. Runner-ups were awarded a belt buckle. The newly crowned Queens will be active representatives of YPS, attending all upcoming events, serving as runners, aides, and award presenters. They will also make appearances throughout the year to promote YPS.
“We are incredibly proud of all of the young ladies who participated in this contest. It takes a lot of courage to walk across that stage and, based on the caliber of participants in this event, it is obvious that the future of Chambers County is bright.” – Chambers County Judge Jimmy Sylvia
We would also like to recognize and extend our appreciation to the dedicated volunteer committee that made this event a success: Megan Doucet (Chair), Madey Pipkin, London Doucet, Kesha Houston, Journey Hamilton, and Sarah Phelps. Their hard work and commitment to this program are invaluable.
