Luke begins with the story of John the Baptist’s miraculous conception. John was sent to prepare people for the coming and ministry of Jesus. He spoke of repentance of sin and the sign he used was immersion. He basically encouraged people to do the things that they could do so they would be ready for Jesus to save them. Repentance of sins and being immersed did not save them, but the works that Jesus would do would save us from our sins. Luke continues by telling us about Mary and the act that God did in her that miraculously produced Jesus. John was all about preparing us so we could be saved and Mary shows us what God did to actually save us. Us doing actions is not enough. We need the miraculous work that only God can do through Jesus the Messiah. We can trust God to do His part. Have you done yours? Believe in Jesus.
