Jesus got invited to a meal (Luke 14) on the Sabbath by a Pharisee who was watching Him, hoping to cause Jesus to make a mistake that they could take advantage of. He healed a man and that did not please them. He then addressed the attenders: “When you attend a banquet, do not sit in the seats of honor but take the lower seats.” Then he addressed his host: “When you give a meal, do not just invite your friends and people who can help you, but invite people who can’t repay the favor.” What was Jesus’s point? We should go through life not just thinking of ourselves, but realizing that God is the only one who can help you and make you truly great. Too often we ignore God and think we can do life better than God can. We’re wrong when we don’t factor in God before everything else. Remember Him! Believe in Him! He loves us so we ought to love Him back.
