The Bucs hosted The Liberty Panthers Friday, Feb 28th to open the second round of district play. EC and Liberty entered the game tied for first place with the winner taking sole possession of first place. After a very physical battle plagued with fouls, Bucs would come away with the win 2-0. With the game tied 0-0 at the half, the Panthers opened the second half attacking the Bucs and were awarded a penalty kick after being fouled in the box. Goalkeeper Alejandro Roca would block the pk attempt keeping the game tied 0-0. The Bucs would take the lead 1-0 after a goal by Max Vargas with 19 minutes left. The Panthers would have a chance to tie the game with just under 11 minutes left in the game after the Bucs fouled a Liberty player in the box. The Liberty player’s penalty kick was off target just missing wide right. The Bucs would go up 2-0 with 2:41 left in the game when David Lopez scored after receiving a throw in from Ricardo Lopez.
