East Chambers High School Band Director Holly Cravy put her 2020-2021 Buccaneers Band members through their paces last week. “We usually start practice the first week of August,” said Cravy, “but because of COVID-19, we decided to start a week earlier. The kids seem really happy to be back.” Cravy explained that because of COVID-19, they will have to change their performance structure. “Because of the social distancing mandate, our band will basically take up the whole field when we come out to perform,” said Cravy. “Masks will be worn except for those who need to play their instrument.” There are five home football games this 2020 fall season. Whether the Bucs band will travel to perform at away games has yet to be determined.
The 2020-2021 Buccaneers Band leadership team is as follows: Senior Drum Major – Gracie Moore; Junior Drum Major – Harley Villejoin; Band President – Jayden Perrault; Woodwind Captain – Madsyn Valka; Brass Captain – Alan Garcia; Percussion Captain – TJ Nipp; Instructional Leadership – Haydon Cooke and Kami Greene.
