The Anahuac Panthers opened District 10-3A Division I play in impressive fashion Friday night, September 25th, traveling to Tarkington and defeating the Longhorns, 64-26.
Anahuac’s offense was clicking throughout the night, producing 476 total yards, including 344 rushing yards and 132 passing yards. The Panthers found the end zone nine times, scoring six rushing touchdowns and three through the air.
Leading the Panthers on the ground was #3 Treyson Richardson, who carried the ball 21 times for 163 yards, including a long run of 17 yards and two rushing touchdowns.
#27 Ayvin Kizzie also had a big night, rushing 15 times for 110 yards with a long of 21 yards and three touchdowns.
#7 Braydon Sutch contributed in multiple areas. Sutch completed 4 of 6 passes for 106 yards, including a long completion of 56 yards. He also rushed four times and scored a rushing touchdown. Through the air, Sutch connected with #10 Carter Rivon for a significant portion of the Panthers’ passing production.
Rivon was the Panthers’ leading receiver, hauling in five receptions for 114 yards, including a 56-yard reception, and scored three receiving touchdowns.
#16 Scott Mathes also saw action at quarterback, completing 3 of 5 passes for 26 yards while adding four carries for 37 rushing yards. #32 Jayden Richardson contributed three carries for 26 yards, while #20 Jakob Jiminez added two carries for eight yards.
As a team, Anahuac totaled 49 rushing attempts for 344 yards and completed 7 of 11 passes for 132 yards. The Panthers also recorded seven receptions for 132 yards.
The victory moved Anahuac to 2-3 overall and 1-0 in district play, while Tarkington fell to 0-5.
With district play underway, the Panthers will return home Friday, October 2nd, to host the Kirbyville Wildcats. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 pm at Kyle White Stadium.
