The Johnny Ackel Memorial Rodeo, produced by Blue Jeanes Productions, has officially been designated a PRCA rodeo! The rodeo will be held August 20th – August 22nd in the Lilton Sonnier Arena in Winnie-Stowell Park, in Winnie, Texas.

Jen Jeanes exclaimed, “The Johnny Ackel Memorial Rodeo and Festival will be bigger than ever! It will be a three-day event with rodeo, live music, car show, and family fun. Not only will we have PRCA bull and saddle bronc riders and barrel racers, but we have added a festival and BBQ cookoff!”

Crowd favorite mutton bustin’ will be held all three days. The cookoff will be on August 21st and 22nd. Categories are Margaritas, “chef choice”, Bloody Marys, ribs, chicken, and brisket.

The Tristan Parker Invitational will be held on Saturday morning, August 22nd. Events are steer riding for ages 12 and under, and bull riding for ages 17 and under. Belt buckles will be presented to the winners.

The Johnny Ackel Memorial Rodeo was founded six years ago by Blue and Jen Jeanes with one mission – give back to the next generation. What started as a hometown rodeo has grown into a meaningful tradition, with 100% of the proceeds each year going directly to local FFA programs through scholarships. Qualified students from East Chambers FFA, Anahuac FFA, Hamshire Fannett FFA, and Barbers Hill FFA will be receiving scholarships.

Jen and Blue want to thank the continued support of the community for allowing them to be able to invest in the futures of students across the area. Jeanes stated, “In 2026 we are taking it even further – expanding into a full rodeo and festival experience to raise more funds, support more FFA programs, and create an even greater impact.”

Built on tradition. Driven by purpose. Focused on the future.
