Numerous state and federal races will face off again in the May 26 runoff after failing to secure more than half of the votes cast in the March 3, 2026, Republican and Democratic primaries. This includes Attorney General Ken Paxton’s challenge to unseat U.S. Sen. John Cornyn and Mayes Middleton looking to fend off Congressman Chip Roy for Texas’ Attorney General. Both races are in the GOP primary election.

Early voting is Monday, May 18th to 22nd, and election day is Tuesday, May 26th. Since Texas voters do not have to declare party affiliation when they register to vote, each voter can vote in any party’s runoff elections. But remember, Texas doesn’t allow double dipping. Voters who already voted in the Republican or Democratic primary this year can only vote in that same party’s runoff elections. Voters who didn’t vote in March can choose to vote in either party’s runoff. (Texans don’t have to formally register with a party.)

 Polling locations are:

  • Chambers Health Services, 102 Chambers County Airport, Anahuac, TX 77514
  • Winnie Stowell Community Building, 335 S Park St, Winnie, TX 77665
  • Barbers Hill ISD, Community Elections Center Entrance 32, 9650 Eagle Drive, Mont Belvieu, TX 77523
  • Judge Larry Cryer Annex Building, 7711 Highway 146, Baytown, TX 77523.

Early voting hours and May 26th are 7am to 7pm.
