Sixth-Inning Burst Enough To Lead Buna Past East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers

Buna scored seven runs in the sixth inning, which helped them defeat East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers 13-3 on Tuesday.

Buna got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after K.ashley was struck by a pitch, H. Dubose singled to center field, and Colley walked, each scoring one run.

Buna added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after K.McGallion doubled down the left field line, and East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers committed an error, each scoring one run.

Buna scored seven runs on five hits in the bottom of the sixth inning. H. Dubose singled, scoring one run, an error scored two runs, M.Merkelz singled, scoring one run, Mcwhirter singled, scoring two runs, and K.ashley laid down a sacrifice bunt, scoring one run.

Destiney Deyoung pitched four innings in relief for East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers. The reliever surrendered seven hits and eight runs (four earned) while, striking out one and walking four. Rilynne Ortego took the loss for East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers. The pitcher went one and two-thirds innings, giving up five runs (three earned) on three hits, striking out none and walking two.

Mikela Quave, the number nine hitter for East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers, led the way with two runs batted in. The right fielder went 1-for-3 on the day. Halleigh Hanna, Emily Vratis, Jadynn Smith, and Quave each collected one hit for East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers.

Buna amassed 10 hits in the game. M.Blessing, H. Dubose, and M.Merkelz each collected two hits for Buna. H. Dubose, M.Merkelz, and K.ashley each drove in two runs for Buna. Buna had patience at the plate, amassing six walks for the game. Colley and Mcwhirter led the team with two bases on balls each. Buna stole four bases in the game.

 

Bats Stymied For Both Teams As East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers Loses To Warren

Both teams were strong in the circle on Friday, but Warren was just a little bit stronger at the plate in their 3-1 victory over East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers. Destiney Deyoung started the game for East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers and recorded 21 outs.

A single by Kinley Fife put Warren on the board in the top of the fourth.

Deyoung took the loss for East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers. The starting pitcher went seven innings, allowing three runs (one earned) on six hits, striking out two and walking none. Fife stepped in the circle first for Warren. The hurler allowed two hits and one run over seven innings, striking out 15 and walking three.

Zoe Selby and Jadynn Smith were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected one hit for East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers while hitting back-to-back. Halleigh Hanna led the team with one run batted in.

Brenna Tillerson and Fife each collected two hits for Warren. Tillerson, Julia Jeansonne, and Fife each drove in one run for Warren. Warren were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Jeansonne had the most chances in the field with 15.

East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers play at home on Tuesday, March 31st against Orangefield and will travel to Hardin on Friday April 2nd.
