A Major Milestone at Port Houston!

Dear Gloria,

It was an honor to join Port Houston last week to celebrate a major milestone in Project 11, a historic investment in the Houston Ship Channel that will strengthen our economy, improve safety, and expand America’s energy export capacity.

I am incredibly proud that the nation’s busiest port by waterborne tonnage is right here in our congressional district! For more than a decade, I’ve had the privilege of representing Port Houston and championing its critical role in keeping America moving.

The Port and Houston Ship Channel support millions of American jobs and generate roughly $1 trillion in economic value for our nation. From the longshoremen and truck drivers to the refinery workers, engineers, and small-business owners, the hardworking men and women along the Ship Channel help fuel America’s economic strength every single day.

Project 11 is a tremendous achievement and a testament to what strong partnerships and a shared commitment to modernizing our infrastructure can accomplish. I look forward to seeing the continued growth and success of Port Houston for generations to come.

When Port Houston succeeds, Texas succeeds, and America succeeds!

I had the privilege of celebrating the 60th anniversary of the opening of the Allan Shivers Library in Woodville!

A proud son of East Texas, Allan Shivers dedicated his life to public service, serving our great state as a state senator, lieutenant governor, and governor. His legacy of leadership and service extends far beyond Woodville, and this wonderful library stands as a lasting testament to his commitment to education, opportunity, and future generations of Texans.

Congratulations on 60 remarkable years! May this treasured institution continue to educate, inspire, and serve our community for generations to come.

The energy produced and shipped along the Texas Gulf Coast should power America and our allies, not prop up a communist dictatorship just 90 miles from our shores.

Last week, federal officials announced the seizure of 19 shipments carrying approximately 119,000 gallons of biodiesel at the Port of Houston before they could reach ENETEC, a sanctioned, state-owned fuel company in Havana.

After receiving intelligence in early September that fuel was being illegally exported to Cuba, Homeland Security Investigations and U.S. Customs and Border Protection took swift action. The Houston seizures were part of a larger operation that stopped 90 shipments carrying more than 600,000 gallons of fuel, valued at nearly $3 million, through the Port of Houston and Port Everglades in Florida.

For decades, Cuba’s communist regime has oppressed its own people while aligning itself with America’s adversaries. It has no business benefiting from American energy resources, and under President Trump’s leadership, we are making sure it doesn’t.

President Trump has made it abundantly clear that the days of turning a blind eye to the Cuban dictatorship are over. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has reinforced that message, and our federal law enforcement agencies are backing it up with action.

Cuba’s communist regime has spent countless years betting on American weakness. Those days are over. President Trump warned them, and now they’re finding out he meant it.
