John 6:9 records the story of a young boy with a lunch that consisted of two fish and five loaves of bread. “There is a lad here who has five barley loaves and two small fish, but what are they among so many?” Not enough to take care of the hunger of the five thousand people following Jesus. But the amazing always happens when we are willing to release what is in our hands and place it into God’s hands. What we face may seem so big. But it is important to keep in mind that God is bigger. The task of feeding all those people was great, but God proved himself greater. It all started with one person willing to be used by God. The amazing thing of this story is that not only were the five thousand fed, but when the leftovers were gathered there were twelve full baskets left. They gathered them up, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves which were left over by those who had eaten. John 6:13 Every person possesses some gift, talent or ability. Put in God’s hand, the amazing happens.
