After much prayer and consideration, Josh Fitzgerald, a graduate of Texas A&M and the University of Texas School of Law with nearly two decades of legal experience, announces his candidacy for the 253rd Judicial District Court.
When making the decision to run for election, Josh’s thoughts continuously returned to his two small children. “I want my sons to grow up in a community with leaders focused on prioritizing service over self-interest, and where the rule of law applies equally to everyone.”
A local attorney with extensive experience practicing throughout Texas, Fitzgerald has witnessed firsthand the need for balanced, even-handed judicial leadership. His practice has given him deep insight into the real-world impact of court decisions on families and businesses throughout the district.
“Our area is growing rapidly at a time when many have unfortunately lost faith in our justice system. Our judiciary must adapt without allowing the inevitable changes around us to diminish the values and principles that make this our home.” Fitzgerald explains.
“Our community deserves a choice this election: Do we continue business-as-usual for the past 30 years or do our counties move forward with a fresh perspective, recognizing and addressing the challenges that come with our growing population and the need for a restored trust in our judicial system? As judge I will maintain a focused commitment to managing the docket efficiently, treating all parties with respect, and ensuring there is an accessible, transparent, and unbiased application of the law.”
Mr. Fitzgerald currently serves as Liberty County Child Welfare Board Member, Public Member of the Liberty County CAD Board of Directors (countywide elected position), and formerly served as the Municipal Judge for the City of Hardin.
His commitment to the community extends beyond the courtroom. He is a lifelong member of Community Baptist Church of Moss Hill and a 1999 graduate of Hardin High School. A married father of two, Josh and his family are deeply rooted in the community he seeks to serve.
“I will never waiver in my belief that the core purpose of the 253rd District Judge is to act as an unbiased public servant to the people of Chambers and Liberty Counties. I look forward to earning your trust.”
