(March 6, 2025) — Imagine being forced to choose between paying rent or buying groceries. For many in our community, this is not a hypothetical situation—it’s an everyday reality. To raise awareness about the financial challenges faced by local families and individuals, United Way of Greater Baytown Area & Chambers County (United Way) invites the community to Making It Count—a powerful, interactive financial reality simulation designed to shed light on the complexities of managing limited resources.
Participants will take on real-life scenarios that reflect the tough decisions faced by many of our neighbors—navigating bills, childcare, transportation, employment, and more—all while trying to stay afloat. The immersive experience highlights the importance of financial stability and the community support systems in place to help those in need. “This simulation gives people a deeper understanding of the difficult choices many families are forced to make every day,” said Ashlee Rincon, Community Impact Program Manager – Financial Stability. “It’s more than just an event—it’s a chance to build empathy and inspire action.”
The event will take place on Thursday, April 24, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12 PM at Lee College.
