By Rev. Hoang Nguyen, St. Louis Catholic Church

This is only my fourth month serving in Winnie, Texas, and I have enjoyed it very much. As the new Administrator of St. Louis Catholic Church, I get to experience many new things. This year will be my first time making rice balls for the Texas Rice Festival!

I have eaten rice balls before, but I have never made them. This year, St. Louis plans to make 16,000 rice balls. That is a lot! I keep joking with my parishioners that we are making 16 million, not 16,000.

I am excited to join our parishioners in giving our time, talent, and treasure to make the Rice Festival meaningful and memorable. It is a wonderful opportunity to come together as one family of faith. Although we speak two languages at St. Louis, we are one family in Christ.

Jesus tells us, “Where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them” (Matthew 18:20). Jesus is with us when we gather in His name. He feeds us with His Word and with His Body and Blood in the Eucharist and strengthens us to go out and love, feed, and serve others, especially those in need in our community.

If you need a place to worship, the doors of St. Louis Catholic Church are always open. We would be honored to welcome you.
