Senior Citizens Gather for September Luncheon

Senior citizens of the Winnie-Stowell community gathered on Thursday, September 10th, for a fun-filled Senior Luncheon at the Winnie Community Building. The event brought area seniors together for a day of fellowship, food, games and community services.

The luncheon was hosted by Coastal Gateway Health Center, which provided a delicious gumbo lunch and drinks for those in attendance. The gathering also featured several activities and services designed to provide both entertainment and helpful resources for local seniors.

Members of Winnie-Stowell EMS were on hand to provide blood pressure checks, giving attendees an opportunity to keep an eye on their health while enjoying the luncheon.

Connie Lee with the Juanita Hargraves Memorial Library was also available during the event, allowing seniors to check out books and discover something new to enjoy at home.

Guests participated in a lively game of Bingo, with prizes awarded to the winners. Two additional door prizes were donated by The Seabreeze Beacon, adding to the excitement and giving attendees a chance to take home something special.

The Senior Luncheon continues to provide an opportunity for area seniors to get together, visit with friends and neighbors, enjoy a meal and take advantage of services available in the community.

The next Senior Luncheon is scheduled for Thursday, November 12^th from 11am – 1pm. Seniors are encouraged to mark their calendars and plan to attend for another afternoon of food, fellowship and fun.

For seniors who need assistance getting to the luncheon, rides are available. Those needing transportation assistance are encouraged to call Commissioner Jimmy Gore’s office at 409-267-2644.
