Putting God First

Three years ago, I was a seminarian in my final year of theology at Notre Dame Seminary in New Orleans. Before my ordination, Bishop David Toups assigned me to Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Mont Belvieu. During that time, I attended an ACTS (Adoration, Community, Theology, and Service) Retreat that taught me a simple but life-changing lesson: put God first, family second, and work third.

Now, as the administrator of St. Louis Catholic Church in Winnie, I strive to begin each day by putting God first. When we place Him at the center of our lives, He gives us the strength, wisdom, and peace to face whatever comes our way. One of my favorite Bible verses is Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

Jesus strengthens us through His Word, the sacraments, and the prayers of His people. No matter where you are in your faith journey, know that God loves you and will never abandon you.
