Residents of the community of Stowell in Chambers County will be able to seek relief from the southeast Texas heat when Chambers County develops a brand new splashpad in Gregory Park in Stowell. Chambers County Commissioners Court approved a bid from Kraftsman Playgrounds and Water Park for $399,571.29.
The splashpad will be on the southwest corner of Gregory Park. It will measure 51 ft by 51 ft and have 11 water features. Included in the plan is room for three picnic tables and trash receptacles. “It’s going to be nice,” said Parks & Recreation Department Head John Parrot. “It is going to be probably the nicest one we have.”
Commissioner Pct 1 Jimmy Gore and Commissioner Pct 4 Ryan Dagley both have advocated for this project for awhile. Several community leaders such as Marilyn Green have talked with the commissioners about the need for the local children to be able to enjoy a splashpad in their own neighborhood. “It’s wonderful that it has finally come to fruition,” said Green.
According to Parrot, it will take several months to develop the plans, prepare the site work, and order the splashpad equipment. “We are looking for a Fall ’26 date for completion, but who knows, if the weather cooperates and the equipment order is expedited, we could open sooner. But, for now, our target time is Fall of 2026.”
Parrot also stated that the county is also working on a splashpad for Carver Park in Anahuac.![]()
