Romans 8 does a good job explaining the difference between a lost person (fleshly) and the saved (spiritual). The lost live only for the here and now. The only thing that matters to them is what they can see and touch. The unseen, non-experienced things? They are treated as unreal or unimportant. Most people are lost so they ignore spiritual truth and reality. In 100 years where will they be, what will they be doing? They don’t know or care. This existence is all they value or believe in. But there is more: the spiritual. How do we know this? God tells us in His word, the bible. Lost people will say: “That’s not truth! That’s just some legends and ancient invented ideas that a bunch of nobodies made up.” No, God wrote it and it’s true. I remember in college and talking to some people who were lost, fleshy, and unspiritual. I mentioned the bible and one said that it was full of lies and untruths. I calmly said, “No. There are no errors in the bible.” He responded, “It’s full of errors.” I said, “Show me one.” He couldn’t, wouldn’t even try, and said “Well I don’t know one right now, but it’s full of them!” This was a group who lived down the hall that I rarely saw and none of them were willing to point out any errors or problems with the bible. So they stayed ignorant, content with ignoring the spiritual. In 100 years I will be gone from this life but I will be more alive than ever. I will be living the life I’ve always desired, forever. How do I know that? The bible tells me so. It tells us what Jesus says. Read it. Be spiritual. There’s more to life than here and now.
