Lady Bucs Battle Through Early-Season Matchups

  The East Chambers Lady Bucs volleyball team continued its early-season schedule with a pair of home matchups against the Silsbee Lady Tigers and Warren Lady Warriors.

  East Chambers hosted Silsbee on Tuesday, August 18, falling to the Lady Tigers in three sets, 20-25, 17-25 and 14-25.

  Leading the Lady Bucs offensively was Makayla Montoya, who recorded nine kills. Defensively, Jimena Vargas led East Chambers with 13 digs, followed by Addie Parker with nine and Montoya with six.

  The Lady Bucs returned to their home court Friday, August 21, to host the Warren Lady Warriors. East Chambers again battled through three sets before falling 20-25, 17-25 and 14-25.

  Makayla Montoya and Mikeala Quave led the Lady Bucs with six kills apiece, while Presley Simino added four kills. Vargas paced the defensive effort with nine digs, while Makayla Montoya recorded eight and Adi Blank finished with seven.

  Addie Parker contributed eight assists in the match, helping set up the Lady Bucs’ offensive attack. Montoya also made an impact from the service line with four aces.

  East Chambers will look to build on each match as the season continues. The Lady Bucs hosted the West Hardin Lady Oilers on Tuesday, August 25, before hitting the road Friday, August 28, to take on the Liberty Lady Panthers.

  With a young season still ahead, the Lady Bucs will continue working to sharpen their game and build momentum as district play approaches.
