The East Chambers Lady Bucs continued their volleyball season with a busy stretch of competition, including district play against Orangefield and Anahuac and a trip to Beaumont for the YMBL Tournament.
The Lady Bucs hosted the Orangefield Lady Bobcats on Tuesday, September 8th, battling through three sets before falling 0-3. East Chambers dropped the opening set 11-25, followed by a 12-25 loss in the second set and a 19-25 decision in the third.
#11 Makayla Montoya led the Lady Bucs with five kills, while #3 Mikeala Quave added four kills. #10 Jimena Vargas anchored the defensive effort with 13 digs, followed by #2 Addalyn Blank with 10. #8 Addie Parker finished the match with 11 assists.
East Chambers then traveled to Beaumont on September 10th and 12th to compete in the YMBL Tournament. The Lady Bucs finished the tournament with a 3-3 overall record, picking up victories over Beaumont United, Newton and Baytown Lee.
The Lady Bucs returned to district action on Friday, September 11th, hosting the Anahuac Lady Panthers. East Chambers came out strong and earned a convincing 3-0 victory, winning 25-12, 25-20 and 25-10.
#11 Makayla Montoya and #5 Kenley George led the Lady Bucs at the net with six kills apiece, while #3 Mikeala Quave contributed five kills. #10 Jimena Vargas once again led the defensive effort, recording 14 digs. #8 Addie Parker turned in an outstanding performance running the offense, finishing with 23 assists.
The Lady Bucs continued district play on Tuesday, September 15th, as they hosted the Kirbyville Lady Wildcats.
East Chambers will then hit the road on Friday, September 18th, traveling to take on the Kountze Lady Lions.
With district play continuing, the Lady Bucs will look to build on their strong performance against Anahuac and carry the momentum from their three tournament victories into the upcoming matches.
