The East Chambers Buccaneers continued its strong start to the 2026 season Friday night, September 11th, traveling to Houston and rolling past the St. Pius X Panthers, 56-14.
The Buccaneers wasted little time finding the end zone, scoring on their opening possession to take a 7-0 lead with 9:31 remaining in the first quarter. After forcing a St. Pius interception, East Chambers quickly added another touchdown to make it 14-0.
The Bucs struck again just over a minute later when a pass from QB #13 Brycen Wells to #0 Earius Ceasar was completed for a touchdown, pushing the advantage to 21-0 with 5:31 left in the opening quarter.
East Chambers added another touchdown early in the second quarter, extending the lead to 28-0 with 9:39 remaining in the half.
St. Pius answered with a touchdown late in the second quarter, but the Panthers missed the extra point, sending the Bucs into halftime with a commanding 28-6 advantage.
East Chambers’ defense continued to make plays throughout the night. The Bucs recorded multiple tackles for loss, including stops by #1 KJ Fontenot with two stops, #20 Rylan Fontenot with one stop, and #40 Gradyn Oliver with one stop, while #21 Jackson Monroe came up with an interception. The defense also forced a turnover on downs late in the third quarter after St. Pius reached the East Chambers 34-yard line.
The Bucs pulled away in the second half. #0 Earius Ceasar scored with 8:47 remaining in the third quarter, making it 35-6. East Chambers added two more touchdowns later in the quarter, including another score by #0 Earius Ceasar and a fumble recovery touchdown by #1 KJ Fontenot for 60 yards, taking a 49-6 lead into the fourth quarter.
St. Pius scored on a touchdown and two-point conversion early in the final period, but East Chambers answered late. Following an interception by DB #21 Jackson Monroe for 34 yards, the Bucs moved deep into Panther territory before RB #14 Tyler Stokes scored a touchdown with 1:56 remaining to cap the 56-14 victory.
The win keeps East Chambers undefeated at 3-0. Through the first three games, the Bucs have piled up 1,054 total yards, including 745 rushing yards and 309 passing yards, according to the team’s season statistics. East Chambers has scored 14 touchdowns through three games.
Senior RB #0 Earius Ceasar has been a major offensive force, entering the next game with 402 rushing yards, 99 receiving yards and six total touchdowns. Sophomore RB #5 Rashard Hale has added 101 rushing yards and two touchdowns, while Senior WR/ QB #1 KJ Fontenot has 58 rushing yards and three total touchdowns. Junior QB #3 Hank Huff has 62 yards rushing and one touchdown.
Defensively, the Bucs have recorded 186 tackles and 19 tackles for loss through three games. #6 Micah Collins and #20 Rylan Fontenot lead the team with 18 tackles apiece, followed by #10 Darius Edmonson with 17, #5 Rashard Hale with 15 and #1 KJ Fontenot with 14.
East Chambers will return home Thursday, September 17th, to host the Hardin Hornets. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00pm.
