By Coach Todd Sutherland

The Runnin’ Bucs season came to an end on Tuesday, February 24th as the Huntington red Devils won by a score of 49-44.

For basketball spectator, it was a great game to watch. The Buccaneers jumped out to a 10 point lead early in the first and then, as all good teams do, the red Devils chipped away at that lead.

The Buccaneers finally lost the lead early in the fourth period and had chances to regain the lead, but just could never make a shot, a lot of that because of the defense by Huntington. Congratulations and good luck to Coach Jones and the red Devils on a well played game.

Leading scorers for the Bucs were Dayvon Wallace with 17 and Cam Dillard with 11.

What is so hard about high school basketball is the abrupt end. When that happens, I have to say goodbye to seniors that have put in a lot of time and have contributed to the success of the team.

The Buccaneers finish with the record of 29-6.

I would like to thank the eight seniors:

Dayvon Wallace, Reid Todd, Bryce Guillory, Hayden Leveck, Sean Norton, Jermaul Hayes, JD Zurby, and Christian Davis.

Huge thanks to Dylan Klages and Ben West for all the work they do, a lot of times behind the scenes. Could not ask for better. I really appreciate it.

Also would like to thank the parents for allowing us to coach your kid and also for pushing them to success.

Also, the administration, teachers, school board, and fans have been supportive as always, and I really appreciate it.

And finally Jenny has been there as always. She just finished her 40th year of sports. Lol

I’m a blessed man

  Until next year, Geaux Bucs!
