East Chambers Runnin’ Bucs Basketball Clenches Playoff Spot Overall 25-7, District 10-1

   The East Chambers Runnin’ Bucs, #2 in District, hosted the Orangefield Bobcats, #3 in District, on Tuesday, January 28^th and defeated the Bobcats 79-70 in hotly contested game in District 22-3A action.

  The Buccaneers jumped to a 10 point lead for the first quarter and then found themselves down by three at halftime 34-31. The second half was very chaotic as the Buccaneer defense caused numerous turnovers which led to easy buckets and got the lead up to 17. But of course, the Bobcats would not go away and with about a minute and a half to go it was down to 3.

  The Bucs made free throws down a stretch to maintain the lead.

  Leading scorers for the Buccaneers were #5 Colby West with 20 points (12-15 FT), 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 10 deflections, and 4 steals; #3 Jaxson Pitre with 16 points, 10 rebounds, 5 deflections, and 3 steals; #4 Cam Dillard with 16 points (4 threes), 7 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 deflections, and 3 steals; #1 Jarrell Smith with 13 points, 1 rebound, 3 assists, 4 deflections, and 4 steals; #21 Evan Callahan with 7 points; #23 Dayvon Wallace with 4 points, 10 rebounds, and 1 steal; and #20 Darius Edmonson with 3 points, 2 rebounds, and 1 deflection.

  The East Chambers Runnin’ Bucs played a rare Saturday night game on February 1^st in Hardin and defeated the Hardin Hornets 82-39 in District 22-3A action.

  The full court pressure wreaked havoc throughout and led to a lot of fast break opportunities for the Runnin’ Bucs.

  Leading score for the Bucs were #3 Jaxson Pitre with 22 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, 4 deflections, and 3 steals; #5 Colby West with 15 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 6 deflections, and 3 steals; #4 Cam Dillard with 10 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist, 5 deflections, and 1 steal; #20 Darius Edmonson with 8 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists, 8 deflections, and 3 steals; #32 Kevin Dodd-Albritton with 7 points, 6 rebounds, and 1 deflection; #1 Jarrell Smith with 6 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists, 10 deflections, and 9 steals; #23 Dayvon Wallace with 6 points, 5 rebounds, 1 deflection, and 1 steal; #10 Aidan Singh with 4 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 deflections, and 2 steals; #11 Aden Thornton with 2 points, 4 rebounds, 3 deflections, and 1 steal; and #21 Evan Callahan with 2 points, 3 rebounds, 4 deflections, and 1 steal.

  The Buccaneers are now 25-7 on the year and 10-1 in district.

  The Runnin’ Bucs hosted the Kountze Lions on Tuesday, February 4^th. The Bucs will travel to Buna on Friday, February 7^th to take on the Buna Cougars with tipoff at 6:00pm.
