The East Chambers Buccaneers faced the Kountze Lions in a double header on Wednesday, March 19th.
In the first game, both teams were strong on the bump, but East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers defeated Kountze 2-1. Hank Huff started the game for East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers and recorded 21 outs.
A steal of home by Jackson Seabaugh put East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers on the board in the bottom of the first.
East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers added one run in the third. Tanner Salazar singled down the left field line, making the score 2-0.
Huff earned the win for East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers. The hurler allowed five hits and one run (zero earned) over seven innings, striking out two and walking three. Kunk took the loss for Kountze. The hurler went six innings, giving up two runs on four hits, striking out 11 and walking four.
Salazar led East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers with one run batted in. The infielder went 1-for-2 on the day. Leadoff hitter Huff led East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers with two hits in three at bats. East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers stole four bases in the game.
Bumstead, Martinka, Kunk, Courts, and Laird each collected one hit for Kountze. Bumstead led Kountze with one run batted in. The number three hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Jordan stole two bases. Kountze didn’t commit a single error in the field. Martinka had the most chances in the field with 13.
East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers had trouble keeping up with Kountze in a 14-3 loss on Wednesday.
East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Tatum Brasseaux doubled, scoring one run, and Teal Kraehnke singled, scoring two runs.
Kountze flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the second, scoring seven runs on six hits to take the lead, 8-3. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Kunk that drove in two.
Kountze scored six runs on four hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Sumford singled, scoring one run, Courts singled, scoring one run, Swanzy singled, scoring one run, Jordan was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Kunk drew a walk, scoring one run, and a wild pitch scored one run.
McNeely earned the win for Kountze. The starting pitcher gave up two hits and three runs over five innings, striking out nine and walking three. Hayden LeVeck led things off on the hill for East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers. The hurler gave up seven hits and eight runs (seven earned) over one and one-third innings, striking out three and walking four.
Brasseaux and Kraehnke were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected one hit for East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers. Brasseaux and Kraehnke were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in one run for East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers. Kraehnke stole two bases.
Kountze tallied 11 hits in the game. Kunk provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Kountze with three runs batted in. The infielder went 3-for-3 on the day. Swanzy and Courts each collected multiple hits for Kountze. Swearingen paced Kountze with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, tallying six walks for the game. Kountze were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Sumford had the most chances in the field with nine.
The East Chambers Bucs hosted the Warren Warriors on Monday, March 24th.

Levi Ledbetter took the loss for Warren. The starter went five innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits, striking out two and walking two.
Kevin Dodd went 1-for-2 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in. Brasseaux, Dodd, Koby Jones, and Braxtyn Trahan each collected one hit for East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers. East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers ran wild on the base paths, accumulating four stolen bases for the game. East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers turned one double play in the game.
Cyrus Cimei, Nicholas Tolar, and Sam Standley each collected one hit for Warren. Warren turned one double play in the game.
East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers will travel to Warren for their next game on Friday, March 28th.
