Chambers County Sheriff’s Office

The Chambers County District Attorney’s Office secured a 40-year prison sentence against a man charged with sexually assaulting a young child.

Edgardo Rodriguez pleaded guilty to aggravated sexual assault of a child in front of 344th District Judge Randy McDonald on Tuesday, July 30 in exchange for an offer of 40 years confinement in Texas Department of Criminal Justice. ‘

In preparation for his trial that was set in August, Assistant District Attorney Kathy Esquivel and District Attorney Investigators Brad Crone and Nick Gonzalez interviewed multiple witnesses and found two additional alleged victims of Rodriguez from out of state.

“This goes to show what hard work on the front end does,” Chambers County District Attorney Cheryl Lieck Henry said. “Kathy has poured her heart into these cases for decades, and these plea deals allow for a long sentence without having to put victims through the immense trauma of a trial and reliving the worst things that ever happened to them in front of both complete strangers and their abusers.”
