East Chambers Bucs Fall to Westwood Panthers in Bi-District Thriller 49-42

  Your East Chambers Buccaneers (7-2) advanced to playoffs and traveled to Navasota to take on the Westwood Panthers (8-2) in the Bi-District Conference 3A D1 game on Friday, November 14th.  Both the Buccaneers and Panthers scored in all four of the quarters with the Westwood Panthers coming out ahead 49-42 and moving on in the playoffs.

  Defeat or not, the East Chambers Buccaneers had excellent senior leadership from Koby Jones, Luke Hampton, and JD Zurby. Senior #1 Koby Jones had 20 carries for 88 yards and 2 TDs; Senior #24 Luke Hampton had 4 carries for 107 yards and 2 TDs; and Senior #15 JD Zurby had 8 completed passes for 82 yards, and 13 carries for 97 yards and 1 TD.  

  East Chambers Senior #1 Koby Jones scored the first TD of the game with 9:34 left in the 1st quarter. Both the Bucs and the Panthers defense did an excellent job holding one another form scoring for the next 6 minutes. The Panthers gained possession of the ball at the Bucs 40-yard line after a 4th down punt, later resulting in a Panther TD with 3:35 left in the 1st quarter.

  The 2nd quarter picked up as the Panthers scored 3 TDs and the Bucs scored 1 TD and 2 FGs. Scoring for the Bucs #1 Koby Jones with 1 touchdown and Kicker #6 Adan Garcia with 2 field goals. At halftime the score was EC 20 – Westwood 28.

   During 3rd quarter, both teams only scored 1 TD each. Scoring for the Bucs, QB #15 JD Zurby with a quarterback keeper into the endzone.

  Now was the buckle down and fight for the win until the end. The Buccaneers scored 15 points in the 4th quarter while the Westwood Panthers only scored 14 points. Scoring for the Bucs were #1 Koby Jones with 1 TD, #24 Luke Hampton with 1 TD, #10 Darius Edmonson with a 2-point conversion. The final score East Chambers 42 – Westwood 49.

  More offensive stats for the Buccaneers: #0 Earius Ceasar with 1 reception for 22 yards; #2 Colby West with 5 receptions for 44 yards; #3 Ethan West with 1 reception for 13 yards; #10 Darius Edmonson with 6 carries for 48 yards; #15 Jackson Seabaugh with 1 carry for 15 yards; and #24 Luke Hampton with 1 reception for 37 yards.

  Defensively the Buccaneers were led by: #12 Tanner Salazar with 4 solo tackles, and 4 assists; #8 Bryce Guilllory with 7 solo tackles, and 1 TFL; #7 Reid Todd with 6 solo tackles, 1 assist, and 1 TFL; #24 Luke Hampton with 5 solo tackles, 1 assist, 1 TFL, and 1 sack; #0 Earius Ceasar with 5 solo tackles and 1 interception; #52 Aiden Baker with 2 solo tackles, and 3 assists; #22 Dalton Dishman with 2 solo tackles, 2 assists, and 1 TFL; #10 Darius Edmonson with 4 assists; #2 Colby West with 3 solo tackles; #5 Rashard Hale with 2 solo tackles, and 1 assist; #40 Gradyn Oliver with 2 solo tackles, and 1 assists; #44 Sean Beighley with 2 assists, and #81 Rylan Fontenot with 1 solo tackle.

  Kicking for the Bucs: #6 Adan Garcia with 3 kickoffs for 74 yards and 4 of 4 PAT; and #33 Max Vargas with 4 kickoffs for 240 yards.
