As an opposition to President Donald Trump and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations, protests on Saturday, June 14, 2025, were held nationwide in over 2,000 cities coast to coast and was termed as “No Kings Day”. At a rally in our closest major city, Houston, over 20,000 protestors attended events downtown and several other locations in the greater Houston area. It is said that over 5 million people protested nationwide.
Texas Governor Abbott deployed over 7,000 National Guard troops and 2,000 Department of Public Safety personnel. Abbott, also, deployed an unspecified number of the Texas Rangers to assist in keeping the peace and quell unruly protestors. Abbott acted proactively and deployed troops days before Saturday’s No King’s Day protests and on the cusp of the destructive Las Angeles protests and destruction. Abbot said the lawlessness caused by demonstrations would not be allowed in Texas.
In a press release, Governor Abbott said that the DPS personnel are meant to, “respond to potential criminal or violent activity at these protests and to maintain law and order across Texas.” The press release added that National Guard troops will be, “strategically positioned to bolster state and local law enforcement responses to any criminal activity.” Abbott added that, “Peaceful protests” are the right of every citizen, but Texas will not tolerate lawlessness like we have seen in Los Angeles all week.” Governor Abbott witnessed the lawlessness in Los Angeles and immediately acted to protect Texas citizens and infrastructure. Few tried to cause trouble in major cities and there was no significant damage to people or property thanks to the National Guard and DPS being deployed by Abbott.
Protestors in Texas and nationwide sent confusing messages to the American people and leadership. When observing the nationwide protests, the message from protestors was confusing as crowds overwhelmingly flew the Mexican flag and the flags of other Latin American countries. The American flag was not prevalent and when seen the flag was often flown upside down. Saturday’s protests, however, focused primarily on President Trump by referencing him as a “king”. Many question how Trump can be seen as a “king” when the left charged him 94 times with frivolous crimes and impeached him twice. And, that any bills and legislation that Trump has wanted must go through the United States House and Senate.
President Trump and United States Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem have been tirelessly working to enforce our nation’s immigration laws by arresting and deporting persons who are in America illegally and are not citizens. Protestors are confusing the enforcement of our laws with our President being a king. Because Trump and Noem are following the law, neither is anything like a king. Los Angeles mayor Karen Bass addressed reports questioning who is going to clean your house, work at restaurants, be a nanny to your children, work in meat processing plants, and other stereotypes in a completely clueless manner that degraded these immigrants that she allegedly wants to protect so that she doesn’t lose her “help” around her home. For reasons such as what Bass has said confuses the nation for people on both sides of the aisle. Her implications are that immigrants are only good for serving the ruling class such as herself.
Noem and Trump will continue to enforce our immigration laws and all deported aliens that are not criminals may return the legal way. This does not make President Trump a king. Trump was given a mandate in the 2024 election to enforce law and order and he is holding true to his promises.
In contrast to the No Kings Day protests, Washington D.C. hosted a parade celebrating the United States Army’s 250th anniversary. The parade coincided with Trump’s birthday and Flag Day.
Protestors wrongly accused the President of throwing himself a birthday parade like a dictator. But no one was calling President Bush a dictator or king when he threw a celebratory military parade in 1991 that celebrated the end of the Gulf War. Before Saturday’s Army celebrations, that was the last military parade before Saturday’s parade.
Abbott ought to be given credit for keeping Texas safe throughout nationwide protests and No Kings Day. He has promised Texas residents law and order, and he has seemed to deliver on his promises. Unlike with the left, when the right says peaceful protests, they mean peaceful.
Thank you to Governor Abbott for keeping Texas safe and a great place to call home.
