East Chambers Lady Buccaneers Powerlifting Places 2nd at Regionals and Advance to State

  The East Chambers Lady Buccaneers Powerlifting team traveled to Bay City on Thursday, February 27th – Friday, February 28th to compete in the Regional equipped and unequipped meet and placed 2nd. The Lady Bucs had 22 girls competing with 15 Regional medals, 6 State qualifiers, 3 outstanding lifters, and 1 Regional record.

Equipped Results are as follows:

123 weight class: Kaitlyn Ortiz 1st place and State qualifer – Squat 255#, Bench Press 155#, Dead Lift 285# for a total of 695#; Karen Hernandez 4th place – Squat 260#, Bench Press 125#, Dead Lift 255# for a total of 640#; Keilyn Avila 5th place – Squat 225#, Bench Press 140#, Dead Lift 255# for a total of 620#

132 weight class: Tyler Stevens 1st place and State qualifier – Squat 265#, Bench Press 165#, Dead Lift 275# for a total of 705#; Jayla Coffey 3rd place – Squat 245#, Bench Press 150#, Dead Lift 250# for a total of 645#; Kaydence Pinson 4th place – Squat 225#, Bench Press 115#, Dead Lift 275# for a total of 615#; Carla Olvera 7th place – Squat 125#, Bench Press 100#, Dead Lift 190# for a total of 415#

148 weight class: Mishel Hernandez 5th place – Squat 250#, Bench Press 125#, Dead Lift 245# for a total of 620#; Jacey Austin 7th place – Squat 225#, Bench Press 145#, Dead Lift 215# for a total of 585#

165 weight class: Sherlyn Vargas 3rd place – Squat 245#, Bench Press 150#, Dead Lift 265# for a total of 660#

181 weight class: Irma Matehuala 3rd place – Squat 305#, Bench Press 165#, Dead Lift 295# for a total of 765#; Luz Martinez 6th place – Squat 265#, Bench Press 160#, Dead Lift 260# for a total of 685#; Alexandra Hernandez 8th place – Squat 205#, Bench Press 85#, Dead Lift 210# for a total of 500#

198 weight class: Marley Morgan 1st place and State qualifier. She broke the Regional bench press record with a lift of 300#. The previous record holder was Marley with a lift of 250# in 2024. Marley was also awarded Best Bench Press and Best Overall Lifter Heavy Platforms with a combined weight of 980#. Squat 360#, Bench Press 300#, Dead Lift 320# for a total of 980#.

105 weight class: Dakota Matthews 2nd place and State qualifier – Squat 155#, Bench Press 85#, Dead Lift 150 # for a total of 390#

114 weight class: Andrea Lopez 1st place and State qualifier – Squat 195#, Bench Press 105#, Dead Lift 265# for a total of 565#; Kyler Thrasher 5th place – Squat 125#, Bench Press 75#, Dead Lift 205# for a total of 405#

132 weight class: Faith Young 5th place – Squat 185#, Bench Press 100#, Dead Lift 210# for a total of 495#

148 weight class: Camila Gurrola 2nd place and State qualifier – Squat 200#, Bench Press 105, Dead Lift 275# for a total of 580#

  The Lady Buccaneers will compete at the State Powerlifting meet on Thursday, March 13th in Edinburg. Good luck Bucs!
