The disciples are amazed when Jesus curses a fig tree that the next day it is “withered from the roots up”. (Mark 11) He tells them to “Have faith in God.” He follows that with “If anyone says to this mountain ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him.” Is this a statement where Jesus is declaring that we are in control of our lives and the world happenings? Don’t forget that He began with “Have faith in God”, thus who is in control is God. What about the rest where he speaks of us believing and not doubting and receiving? The election is coming and I have no idea who will win. I think it is important but I can’t just decide to believe something and thus make it happen. No one can do that. But if we have faith in God, what He decides will always happen. I can have confidence in what He decides and can and do believe He truly is in control, without a doubt. We should humble ourselves and trust Him. Believe me, you don’t want me in control and I don’t want you in control. What a mess that would be. Have faith in God. He is moving mountains. Believe it!
