One Nation Under God: Remembering September 11

As we pause to remember September 11, 2001, we are reminded of a day that forever changed our nation. We remember the lives that were lost, the families who were left grieving, and the heroes who stepped forward with courage and compassion. We remember not only the tragedy, but also the strength and unity that emerged from the darkness.

In the days following September 11, Americans stood together as one nation. Differences seemed smaller, neighbors reached out to neighbors, and people turned to God in prayer for comfort, strength and guidance. Churches opened their doors, communities gathered, and our nation prayed together.

Today, we are reminded of the words, “one nation under God.” These words call us to remember that our strength does not come only from what we can accomplish ourselves, but also from our faith, our love for one another, and our willingness to seek God’s guidance.

Let us continue to pray for our nation—that God would heal our nation, bring peace to our communities, and help us remember the value of unity, compassion and service. May we put aside division and remember that we are neighbors, friends and fellow Americans.

As we reflect on September 11, let us honor those we lost by choosing kindness over hatred, unity over division, and faith over fear.

May God bless those who serve, comfort those who grieve, and bless the United States of America.
