The East Chambers Junior High and Varsity Cheeleaders attended the UCA Cheer Camp from June 24th – June 27th held at Texas A&M University. The JH Cheerleaders are sponsored and coached by Daphney Brooks. The Varsity cheerleaders are sponsored and coached by Makayla Schrock and Heather Beathea. All three coaches are very pleased with this years camp results. The girls have come back to Winnie pumped up and ready to cheer on the Buccaneers for the 2024-2025 school year.
Mrs. Brooks commented, “Cheer Camp 2024 has been one for the books!! The girls gave everything they had on the mats and during the competition. They came home with some bling! They won GOLD in their sideline routine, they also received the most improved award, and the traditions awards alongside our Varsity High School Cheerleaders! We also came home with the spirit stick every night!”
There were eight JH Cheerleaders that were nominated for All American: Kylie Denton, Gia Lara, Tegan Zachry, Addisyn Copeland, Adi Blank, Addy Duhon, Rush Todd, and Brooklyn Armentor. Congratulations to the 2024-2025 JH All American Cheerleaders: Kylie Denton, Rush Todd, Addisyn Copeland, and Brooklyn Armentor. These girls will be able to represent East Chambers at a parade and several other special events this year.
One of the most prestigious awards a cheerleader can earn at camp is the Pin It Forward award. Congratulations to, Brooklyn Armentor, she was chosen by the UCA Staff because of her outstanding leadership, encouragement, humility, and spirit. After receiving the award, she was asked to choose another cheerleader, not on her squad to give a pin to, she chose someone from New Waverly Middle School.
Coach Schrock wanted to share this about this years cheer camp, “Our week at camp was nothing short of amazing! Our Varsity cheerleaders and Bucky were recognized with a spirit stick every night. We were honored with a GOLD ribbon for our sideline and cheer evaluation, and a blue ribbon for our camp routine. Bucky the Buccaneer earned two red ribbons and a gold ribbon, along with a trophy for most improved mascot. These 21 girls showed unwavering dedication throughout the week. On the final day, we took third place in the large varsity division for our cheer. Together, our JH and Varsity cheerleaders won the Traditions award for the second year in a row. Both squads showed a willingness to learn and grow, embracing new stunts and corrections. To wrap up the week, High School had an outstanding day of UIL Choreography camp with Coach Rico. Heather and I could not be prouder of them!”
Congratulations to the 2024-2025 Varsity All American Cheerleaders: Ja’Mya Anderson, Kaydence Pinson, and Jayda Leday.
