Ducks Unlimited is the world’s largest non-profit organization dedicated to conserving, restoring, and managing wetlands and associated habitats for North America’s waterfowl. Founded in 1937, it uses scientific research to protect breeding, migration, and wintering habitats across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, benefitting wildlife and communities.

The Winnie Stowell Ducks Unlimited chapter is a very lively and active chapter. With wetlands and habitats throughout our county, birders from all over the country travel to Chambers County to observe fowl and support conservation of the habitats.

WS DU held its annual banquet last Saturday in Winnie at the Winnie Stowell Community Building. Hundreds of sport enthusiasts participated in the activities benefiting the WS DU chapter. There was a silent auction filled with everything from handguns to retriever paintings to LED DU signs. There was also a live auction with items ranging from Caymus Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon 2023 to Astro tickets to Oak Island Fishing Adventures to knives and guns.

Attendees were enticed by the “DU girls” to participate in the numerous raffles being offered. There was a gun raffle, Larry Walls Treasure Chest raffle, Winners Choice Poker Chip Raffle, Woodford Reserve Raffle, and tiered raffles that offered a wide assortment of chance to win a variety of items.

Cattleman’s Kitchen prepared the dinner of chicken, green beans, macaroni and cheese, and cookies. And Del Papa donated the beer.

WS DU wants to thank all the sponsors and auction item donors.
