How we spend our time is a pretty good reflection of what is important to us. So let me ask you a question: What is important to you?

What is that one thing on your weekly schedule you simply will not miss? What do you schedule everything else around?

Is it work? Does one call from the office change everything in your personal and family time? Maybe it’s sports. Does the latest game—and its outcome—have a tremendous effect on your life? Maybe your sacred season isn’t football season but deer season, duck season, or the spring spawn. Those are the non-negotiables. Everything else has to work around them.

Now let me ask a bigger question: What about worshiping God?

Where does He fall on your priority list? God commanded, “Do not have other gods besides me” (Exodus 20:3). Have some of our other devotions become our gods?

Are we as faithful to worship as we are to our team, job, hobby, or hunting season?

Hebrews 10:25 tells us not to neglect gathering together. Jesus said, “Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness” (Matthew 6:33).

So take an honest look at your calendar and your priorities.

What are you seeking first—and who really has your devotion?
