Psalm 89:17 (The Message Bible)

You’ve been so good to us! We are walking on air! All we are and have we owe to God, Holy God of Israel, our King! A long time ago you spoke in a vision. You spoke to your faithful beloved, “I’ve crowned a hero, I chose the best I could find.” This 89th Psalm is speaking of God’s covenant with David. David started out life as a nobody. He was an ordinary sheep herder, and it was his faithfulness in that humble setting that was instrumental in his rise to greatness. It was in that place where he killed a lion and a bear in protection of his dad’s sheep. It was in that humble setting he conquered Goliath. And, it was in that humble setting that he was chosen to succeed Saul as King. No matter how small or insignificant you feel your job or position in life is, never forget that God takes note of your faithfulness. The Bible says in Zachariah 4:10 “Do not despise these small beginnings…” You may feel like what you have to offer is small and insignificant, but always keep in mind that little is much when God is involved.
