First time elected Chambers County officials as well as incumbents took the oath of office for the office to which they were elected at the Chambers County Courthouse January 1, 2025. The oath reads “I, _______________________, do solemnly swear (or affirm), that I will faithfully execute the duties of the office of ___________________ of the State of Texas, and will to the best of my ability preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States and of this State, so help me God.”
Since Chambers County is a red (Republican) county, the winners of contested county races were determined in the primary election held in March 2024. All incumbents won their primaries if they were contested. The contested races were for District Attorney which was won by incumbent Cheryl Lieck Henry, Commissioner Pct 1 which was won by incumbent Jimmy Gore, County Tax Assessor-Collector which was won by incumbent Laurie Payton. No Democrats ran for elected office in the county, so the primary winners were automatically declared the winners in the November 5th general election.
Other incumbents who ran unopposed in both the primary and general elections and will continue to serve another term are District Judge 344th Randy Mc Donald, County Attorney Ashley Cain Land, Sheriff Brian Hawthorne, and Commissioner Pct. 3 Tommy Hammond.
First time elected officials are Constable Pct.1 Rodney Kahla and Constable Pct. 5 Josh Kahla.
Congratulations to all!
