Each August, communities across the nation pause to recognize the vital role Community Health Centers play in ensuring access to high-quality, affordable health care for all. National Health Center Week 2026, observed August 2–8, celebrates this mission under the theme “Building Innovative Care Where It Matters Most.” This theme reflects not only the national vision of community-based care, but also the daily reality at Coastal Gateway Health Center (CGHC) and its impact on the people of East Texas.
A Community-Centered Mission in Action
CGHC was founded to meet the health care needs of a rural and medically underserved community. From preventive services and chronic disease management to behavioral health screening, immunizations, and care coordination, CGHC delivers comprehensive primary care regardless of a patient’s ability to pay. As a Community Health Center Look-Alike, CGHC embodies the core values celebrated during Health Center Week: access, equity, quality, and community trust.
Innovation at CGHC does not always mean cutting-edge technology alone, it means practical, patient-focused solutions that remove barriers to care. Sliding fee scales, same day access, when possible, standing orders that empower clinical staff, and proactive outreach to patients lost to follow-up are just a few examples of how CGHC builds care models designed around real community needs.
Aligning With the 2026 Health Center Week Focus Areas
Throughout National Health Center Week 2026, each day highlights a different aspect of the Community Health Center mission—many of which are lived out daily at CGHC:
Looking Forward
As CGHC joins health centers nationwide in celebrating National Health Center Week 2026, the focus remains clear: building innovative care where it matters most—right here at home. By staying grounded in community needs while embracing forward-thinking solutions, CGHC will continue to improve health outcomes, reduce disparities, and serve as a cornerstone of care for generations to come.
National Health Center Week is not just a celebration, it is a reminder that strong communities are built on accessible, compassionate, and innovative health care. At Coastal Gateway Health Center, that commitment is lived out every day.
