Marsh Master Roundup!

The final numbers are not in yet but there is ample evidence that the inaugural Marsh Master Roundup was a resounding success! Held at Fort Anahuac Park last Friday and Saturday, the organizers did a great job in focusing on the local aspects of the area with alligators, celebrating the marsh culture with hunting and fishing while incorporating food, music, and family entertainment.
Friday featured a cook-off and live music. Saturday expanded into the public alligator weigh-in, duck-calling competition, redfish tournament, airboat rides, vendors and other outdoor activities. Families with small children seemed to really enjoy seeing the “monster gators” up close and personal!
The winner of the longest alligator caught was Jeremy Stringer. He won $1000 for his “gator” which was 11’9” and weighed 480 lbs.
Marsh Master Roundup, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. 50% of proceeds are reinvested into keeping the Roundup going, while the remaining 50% supports youth development, scholarships, and community revitalization.
Kids of all ages enjoyed the baby gators.
And the winner is … 11’9″ and 480 lbs!
