In Romans 12 we find a group of practical commands that I will say are nonessentials. The Holy Spirit tells us to do a whole list of things that most of us don’t do; like not taking vengence, being diligent, pursuing hospitality, and being patient in afflictions. I say they are nonessentials as we do not have to do these things to be a Christian, but we really miss out if we don’t. Many of these things we write off as we do not seem to naturally be good at them or have that “gift”. Why would God tell us to do things we struggle doing? Because He wants us to learn how to do these amazing things even if we struggle doing them. He is stirring us up to grow and mature and find God moving in ways we would never imagine or dream we could experience. It’s easy to say “we aren’t good at that” and quit, when we should be following God as He leads. He will develop these various things in our lives if we will try. He sees blessings, we see big hassles. Let’s trust God and His word. They won’t lead us astray.
