“When Solomon was old his wives turned his heart to follow other gods. His heart was not completely with the Lord his God as his father David’s heart had been.”(1 Kings 11:4) Poor David. The first thing that many people think of when he is mentioned is his adultery with Bathsheba and the murder of her husband. It was a terrible sin but I read someone that said that Solomon’s sin was worse. What sin would that be? Intermarrying with his foreign wives that worshiped other gods. God had warned him that “You shall not intermarry with them. Surely they will turn your heart away after their Gods.”(1 Kings 11:2) Solomon had 700 wives and 300 concubines. David had an affair and committed murder to cover it up but later the prophet Nathan was used to bring David to repent and be forgiven by God. Solomon never repented, he went on and on, drifting farther and farther away from God. We are all sinners but “if we confess our sins God is faithful and just to forgive us from all unrighteousness.”(1 John 1:9) What have you done with your sins? Just ignored them? Don’t do that. You can’t undo them but you can be forgiven and come back to God. God wants to help you. Believe God not Satan.
