King David (2 Samuel 9) asked if there were any descendants left of the last king, Saul. Many times the relatives of the last king were killed because they were viewed as threats, but David trusted God to keep him king. There was one son, Mephibosheth. He was a cripple and David had him brought. Mephibosheth was fearful but David said, “Do not fear”, that he was giving him back all of Saul’s lands and that he would eat at the king’s table from then on. David trusted God so he could be nice, generous, and kind. It’s the way to live. Trust God and be kind to others. Be generous. It is a rare thing. We are in an election season and who expects the winner to be kind to the loser? Gracious? No one! Don’t you make the same mistake most people are. Purpose to be a blessing that no one is making you be. Do it because you should, not because you have to.
