The election is over but it seems, based on various news articles, that some people can’t get past the results. Even before the election was done there were people not speaking to friends or family, screaming, pouting, resigning, protesting, rioting. Strong opinions were expressed. Well thank God the elections over and time is ticking. If your side won or lost, know that there’s another election coming quickly, so either hurry and do something while you can or take comfort in the fact that every dog has their day and be patient. Time marches on. 2 Samuel 14 tells the story of David dealing with his son Absalom who murdered his other son Amnon who had raped Tamar, Absalom’s sister. An ugly mess of wrongness. What did David do? Basically nothing. He tried to ignore it, to let time heal things which it doesn’t do. The truth needed to come out and God needed to be sought as the only person that can deal with sin is God. We try to fix things and unless we are the guilty party who repents, we make messes not fixes. Thanksgiving is coming quickly. Humble yourself by turning to God so that past wrongs and errors can be removed. Grow up, mature, by obeying God. It’s time.
