God described Himself in Exodus 34:6-7 “A God merciful & gracious, slow to anger, & abounding in steadfast love & faithfulness, keeping steadfast love for thousands, forgiving iniquity, transgression, & sin, but who will by no means clear the guilty.” He is a merciful God to anyone who desires mercy. I like the part about Him being slow to anger. That means He puts up with a whole lot before He strikes out in wrath. Why? To give us the opportunity to do what we should, to ask for forgiveness & to love & believe Him. He doesn’t need the time to think and figure out what is going on, but we do. We do dumb things that once we think about them we regret. I remember so many times when I have rushed into anger and said things I did not need to say. We have an opportunity to do right. God waits to give us the chance because He wants us to be forgiven & do right, but He won’t wait forever. Repent today. Hurry. He’s gracious to wait but we are foolish to wait.
