One of the thorniest issues of Christianity is the topic “Security of the Believer” or once saved, always saved. A major battleground is Romans 8, where verse 35 asks “Who can separate us from the love of Christ?” with the answer being “No one”. This focuses the issue on Jesus’ love. It reminds me of the beloved John 3:16 which states that “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.” People object that love can die or someone being unfaithful can break love bonds, but when you are talking God’s love I don’t think those apply. God will be perfectly faithful. We won’t be but He will. Confidence in our salvation is necessary for living with peace, love, and joy. It’s not a simple task but an important one. Let us trust God to save.
